inotify-tools build and install depending on version and not on features

I wonder what's the reason for building a copy of inotify-tools if system inotify-tools exists and has required options?

Shouldn't this check be changed to actually check for what's needed instead of blindly checking if there is newer version?

Are you concerned that only a specific version of inotify needs to be installed that can do what is required, and we don't always automatically install the latest version?
I mean, sure, we could just check whether the current version on the system (if available) meets the minimum requirements. If so, we leave it as it is; if not, we install the latest version. Is that what you mean?

I am open to changes and pull requests, but I need a little more detailed background information on what you are referring to.
