[Bug]: Shortening cersion check timeout #62

Can you make the timeout a bit shorter? Often, many of us on WSL Windows 11 lose our network connectivity, requiring WSL restart. But localhost broker still works. It's a bit annoying to wait 5 seconds or whatever for the version check to timeout. So:
make the timeout like 1 second?
if a lookup fails (timeout) then maybe skip the version check until tomorrow, like it does if it succeeds?
Expected Behavior
Would be helpful if the response/decision comes back sooner than a 5 sec wait to avoid connectivity issue.
