Running on arbitrary set of cells

I just wondered if this is currently possible. I would imagine it's not, since we can only define an adjacent range using startgrid and endgrid.

What if I want to run the model in a "rectangular box" of cells? Do you just recommend preprocessing all the input files so that I use a new grid with only those cells?

The main use case would be running the model for different subregions using the same global inputs but not wanting to wait the long execution time for a global run.

Thanks for bringing this up.
As you say, you can only provide a startgrid and endgrid so nothing rectangular or other polygon.
The current workaround is to set soil codes in the pixels that you want to skip to zero which are then skipped (not computed, no output written) and all the other inputs can be kept as they are.
So you only need a modified soil input file to compute sub-regions.

Note that if you run a simulation with river routing enabled you should make sure to include full river basins in your subset of cells.

It seems I couldn't get this to work, but it might just be my fault (putting zeros would give me errors for other input files).

However, if I set the cells to nulls instead of zeros it works. I imagine the original nulls represent non-land cells. Can anything wrong happen in the model if I also set null values to the cells I want to skip? What's the difference between setting a null or a zero? Any additional remark I should keep in mind is welcome.
