mbdyn - kitefastmbd

I'm trying to compile the KiteMain.mbd file from the "m600_platform" (KiteFAST test cases) and I get an error that it can not find the "libmodule-kitefastmbd-os".

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

Hi @casanova555 Please provide more details. What have you tried specifically? If you followed instructions, which ones? What platform are you using? Any details that would help someone else get an idea of your issue are helpful.

Hi Rafael,

this is for the m600_platform test case, I've run the preprocessor/preprocess.py in the WindowsPowerShell using the command:
python3 ..\..\preprocessor\preprocess.py -i .\m600_model.yml in the folder "m600_platform", then the folder gets populated, after that I run the command C:\Users\e33992\Source\Repos\mbdyn\mbdyn\mbdyn .\KiteMain.mbd but I don't see anything happening after this.

So I compiled the mbdyn from ubuntu installation using the command: /usr/local/mbdyn/bin/mbdyn KiteMain.mbd from the folder m600_platform but I get an error: ModuleLoad_int: unable to open module <libmodule-kitefastmbd-os> (file not found) at line 4, file <KiteMain.mbd>

@Farzinj It looks like you are missing some parts of the software. You could try running the installation script at https://github.com/OpenFAST/KiteFAST/blob/kitefast/glue-codes/kitefast/kitefast_install.sh from your Ubuntu system. Before you do that, I recommend reading through the script to configure it correctly (see lines 13, 14, 15) and update anything that looks outdated.

does it matter from which folder I run the "kitefast_install.sh" script? Also do I need to install the mbdyn-1.7.3 separately using the MBDyn using the steps in the link: "https://www.mbdyn.org/?Software_Installation" ?

The install script should install MBDyn for you.

And you should move into the directory containing the install script to be safe. Be sure to review it fully to make changes as needed before installing. This is generally a good practice before running any shell script, but in this case the script was left containing paths for specific machines so it will not work for your computer as is.
