CustomDiscs not playing when used with a redstone hopper looper

Custom discs play fine when a player places them in the box but when a hopper is activated with a redstone switch and places the disc into a jukebox, it shows music notes above the box but sound does not play. Any ideas why?

Nah nah, schematics (like with Litematica, an export of your redstone jukebox player, which is faster for me to test because I can just past it in my test world :D ), or a full "in depth" screenshots of your build, so that I can replicate it manually.

Also, please note that we do not support older Minecraft servers releases (will require too much work to support a lot of releases), so I'll try to replicate in 1.21.6 with latest (not yet released) Custom Discs plugin.

Depending on the outcome, I'll see if I can make a special build for 1.21.4 if you can't update to the latest (and also, if we can fix it).

I'm actually the player that Craggsidia is trying to help. Here's a screenshot of the audio disc player we're using to test this with. As you can see by the icon on the jukebox, the disc is loaded (and music notes images are coming out of the top.) But there is no sound. But if I pop the disc out and place it back in manually, it plays just fine. Also, once the disc is done playing, it will auto-unload back to the dropper. But if I use redstone to load it, it never unloads, I'm assuming because it's not actually playing, even though visually it says it is.

So, unless there is something I'm missing on the way it function on your server, it should just work (also please note that I did tested it with the upcoming release 4.5 (for Paper 1.21.6/.7, might for for prior 1.21.x but not tested with) and VoiceChatBukkit 2.5.33.

The only thing I could've noticed is that sometime, the dropper doesn't shot any disc while pressing the button, but not a CustomDiscs issue there :D

I'm honestly not surprised you didn't have any issues. This is what we've been trying to troubleshoot. What exactly about our particular setup is causing the discs not to play? If you have any suggestions on what to try, we'd love to hear them. I think Cragg was planning on spooling up a 1.21.6 server just to test this on and see if that solves it. I will say, I'm not sure what VoiceChatBukkit is. Is that different than the Simple Voice Chat mod? That's what we are using. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/simple-voice-chat

Yeah, voicechat-bukkit is the name of the Jar file 😅
So yeah, when I was talking about it, I was reffering to the plugin ( https://modrinth.com/plugin/simple-voice-chat/versions ) which is needed on the server side (else, the SVC on client side will not work).

This plugin is just used here for the audio channel, so that should fix your issue, even though it's always best to update as it can resolve bugs.

What you could try to do is a "binary test" of your plugins.
Disable all of your plugins except Simple Voice Chat (so voicechat-bukkit) and CustomDiscs and see if it work that way.
If it work, well, re-enable one by one the other plugins until you find the culprit.

Also, did you change the default redstone settings on Paper ? this could also be a valid reason for it to break.

And finally, if you have the possibility to test on a fresh server with all your plugins, it's even better (starting with just the voice chat + CustomDiscs only).

Also, even if not tested against 1.21.4, you can try with the CustomDiscs 4.4 (or even 4.5), there is no technical reasons to not work on those old releases (if it didn't start with, you can always rollback to an earlier version of the plugin, but better make backups 🤣)

So I ended up testing updating to 1.21.8. Didn't solve
Disabled all other plugins. Didn't solve.
Deleted and had the server regenerate the paper config and spigot config files. Solved.

Then, it's probably the "redstone-implementation" and/or "alternate-current-update-order" that was changed in your old configuration file (inside 'config/paper-world-defaults.yml').

I did attempt Vanilla and Eigencraft implementation since I was using Eigencraft. It did not solve. I am back to using Eigencraft currently and it is working.

It could be the update order one. I still have the previous config files if you want them to look at. I briefly did but didn't dig into them since I was happy to be done with it lol

maybe hopper.disable-move-event on paper world configuration?
