how to have only specific file extensions indexed?

First of all, thank you very much for making this FOSS app!! (I have been looking for something like this since several years ago when i heard about recoll and docfetcher.. but they don't do fuzzy search.)

currently i am testing out the app but the folder i want to index contains 48000 files.. i would rather leave the .pdf files unindexed, and only have the ms office and plain text files indexed? is there a way to do this?

Hi, thanks for trying out the app.

Currently, it is not available (unless you put these files in a separate folder), but I will work on this feature.

I will leave this issue open and will let you know when it is available.

Hi,

I have just released a new version that allows you to specify which extensions to include/exclude when adding an included folder.

Also, it allows you to filter the search results by file type, and specify the search mode (hybrid/full-text/semantic) with the possibility to disable fuzzy search when not needed.

In addition, the indexing should be a little faster now.

You can update your app using the same installation command:

pip install -U file-brain

In the next run, the app should take you to the setup wizard again to update the database.
