I/O configuration not working in 1.21.1

Hiya, at the moment I'm trying to make a create-powered machine that only accepts input from the left and right sides, but even when I use the example code that says it does specifically that on the wiki, the block still takes rotational force input from all sides, and also outputs the rotational force inputted to it on all sides.

in addition to causing issues for my textures, it means I can't put any other rotational force powered machines next to each other because they all mesh together on all sides
