Intermediate step (click) required to open a picture from the gallery?!

This gallery block works fine, thanks... however; when a picture from the gallery is selected for a view, a black (loading) screen is opened and you can see the selected picture in the background. But only when you close this screen with the cross at the right top end corner the picture becomes visible, so not automatically which you would expect. After that the Lightbox add-on takes over to scroll through the pictures just fine.

I've experimented with activating and deactivating various add-ons and I'm pretty sure the Image Gallery Block is causing this, when I disable it, opening pictures works fine, but obviously my (numerous) Galleries are not there then, so that's not the solution.

FYI: I'm using the Infinity Photography Theme and Gutentor/Gutenberg... Any advice or guidance is appreciated!
