Implement IIIF for image display through EFES

What would be needed to get IIIF compliance for images displayed through EFES?

• image resizing server? (Isn't this already there?)
• some way to (a) record, (b) surface JSON of IIIF data?
• a fallback to current JPEG handling?

That would very nice if there was a possibility to bring JSON of IIIF in EFES.
