Notification system when application terminates

It would be nice to have a notification system that notify the user when her application terminates.
Currently, this part is left to the user and her specific application.
The notification system could be just a mail with the exist status of the application and, perhaps, a link to the logs.

The scenario that I am thinking is a long running application (several hours) when the user would rather receive a mail when the application terminates than keep checking the status.

I added this to the list for the web interface because I consider it part of the front end components. You may want, for instance, specify an email notification on a per-job basis, or even specify different email addresses for different jobs.
