did you try to build it? a simple "make" should work.

for updating to latest projectM, its is not a small task as the API changed a lot. code patches welcome

Yes, of course I did that, but I have no positive results, that is why I am asking.

It would be great to have some instructions, I am just a user who wants to add some milkdrop presets to my music sessions via projectm. I guess you want people to use this code in this repo? Why not go the last step and just explain how to do that?
Of course, a binary download would be even better, so we stupid end users do not need to learn coding and can instead spend time making music... ;)

When getting this source, make sure to:

git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/DISTRHO/ProM.git

Then it should at least build.

Ok, so I tried building an old version of projectm and it looks to me like you need version v3.1.0 for it to build libprojectM.so.2 but after installing that and ldconfig I get the following:

I didn't give up. My problem was I was trying to use the prebuilt ProM.lv2 that I downloaded from https://distrho.sourceforge.io/plugins.php which is broken. Building from source works just fine.

the distrho website is quite outdated, you can just use the binaries from https://github.com/DISTRHO/DPF-Plugins instead.
