Refactoring the existing codebase #4

A lot of the current codebase was written when I was just learning django. I realize that it can definitely be cleaner. Although it, Not a priority but we should look forward to cleaning it up. What is a priority, however, Is making the current docker configs work which I have done locally. Would push as soon as I am done.
