If DescTools package is loaded, the following error occurs:

DescToolsAddIns:::GetExcelRange()
#> Error in sel$Cells() : attempt to apply non-function

I don't know how to handle this. I suppose that createCOMReference is not correctly exported by RDCOMClient, but this package is technically so complicated, that I can't fix anything there (I not even manage to get it compiled...) and Duncan Murdoch apparently has other problems...

I had to create an interface function in DescTools which is only routing the calls. However this did not work in DescToolsAddIns.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated! :-)

@AndriSignorell - hi maybe check out the following issue and discussion devtools::install_github("BSchamberger/RDCOMClient") fixed a similar issue for me on R-4.0.3

PLUS:
For now I was also able to solve that could not find function "createCOMReference" topic via "the ugly" solution ("ugly' in the sense that it is regualarly discouraged) to put RDCOMClient in the Depends: (instead of the Imports:) section of my DESCRIPTION file.

Hey! This looks perfectly promising. I was the first time ever able to compile the package on Windows without error messages!
