Make styling more customisable with CSS variables

We already use bootstrap as much as possible, but there's still some customization. These CSS rules could be converted to use CSS variables to allow projects to overwrite the styling without much of a hassle. This also allows for very specific style changes as a variable overwrite within a specific class is possible.
